Dr. MATTEO MALUSÁ

I was born in Padua in 1986 and, after graduating from high school, I studied Medicine and Surgery at the University of Parma. I specialized in Psychiatry at the University of Florence in 2017 and have been practicing as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist ever since. I completed the four-year training course in Intersubjective Constructivist Psychotherapy at the CESIPc Institute in Florence.

From 2019 to 2025, I worked as an employee at the Provincial Health Services Agency of the Autonomous Province of Trento - Transmural Department of Mental Health, where I now collaborate. Since 2023, I have been participating in training activities for doctors and mental health professionals as a teacher. In January 2026 I began practicing privately in two private practices located in Trento and Cavalese.

Mental health and psychiatry

Over the course of my years of study, work, and professional development, I have come to appreciate and integrate into my daily practice the concept of Contemporary Psychiatry, a holistic and integrated approach to mental health that lies at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and social sciences.

Far from historical conceptions that often saw it limited to institutionalization, modern psychiatric practice is based on two main pillars:

Bio-Psycho-Social Model: Modern psychiatry recognizes that mental suffering is not caused by a single factor, but is the result of a complex interaction between biological, psychological, social and environmental factors.

Psychopharmacology and Neuroscience: Contemporary psychiatry considers and integrates advances in neuroscience to understand the biological basis of mental disorders. Modern psychopharmacology offers targeted treatments to alleviate symptoms and restore neurochemical balance.

Contemporary psychiatry is characterized by the use of integrated treatments, often combining the use of medications under careful clinical monitoring, psychotherapeutic interventions, and psychosocial interventions.

By adopting the principles of a dynamic, evidence-based discipline, I build a welcoming, relational environment in my professional practice, enabling me to understand the complexity of the human mind and promote mental well-being and full recovery.
